The treatment process for implants under anesthesia

Step 1: Consultation and planning

During the first visit, the dentist will examine your mouth and take x-rays to assess whether you are suitable for implants. A treatment plan is drawn up based on the health of your jawbone and the location of the missing tooth/teeth.

Step 2: Administering anesthesia

Normally the anesthesia is administered by injection. But for people with needle phobia, for example, it is possible to first fall asleep with an inhalation mask. We use Sevoflurane (not laughing gas) for this. After putting you to sleep, we switch to TIVA without you noticing.

Step 3: Tooth extraction

Sometimes it is necessary to remove teeth to make room for the implants. This process is also performed under general anesthesia, so you will not experience any pain or discomfort.

Step 4: Placing implants

The dentist makes a small incision in your gums to expose the jawbone. A hole is then drilled in the bone where the implant is placed. After this, the gums are sutured and healing begins.

Step 5: Osseointegration

This is the stage where your jawbone grows around the implant and fuses with it, securing it firmly. This process can take several months.

Step 6: Placing the abutment

After osseointegration is complete, an impression is made and an abutment (a small connecting piece) is screwed onto the implant. This forms the basis for the final crown, bridge or prosthesis.

Step 7: Attaching the crown, bridge or prosthesis

Finally, a custom-made crown, bridge or prosthesis is placed on the abutment, restoring both the aesthetics and function of the missing tooth/teeth.

Treatment under anesthesia

Full anesthesia is a method in which you are put to sleep completely during the treatment. This is done under the supervision of an experienced anesthetist. Unlike local anesthesia and sedation, where you retain some degree of consciousness, with full anesthesia you will not notice the procedure at all.

Verschillende vullingen en 1 kies getrokken. Vanaf het eerste contact (intake gesprek) was het mij opgevallen dat het volledige team zeer vriendelijk en gelijkertijd werd de patient op zijn gemakt gesteld.
Door onbekende oorzaak had ik het bericht mbt het niet-innemen van mijn diabetes medicijn voor de behandeling  niet ontvangen. De anesthesist heeft dit nog kunnen oplossen door metingen van mijn suiker tijdens de behandeling uit te voeren. Ook de nabehandeling werd door de mondhygiëniste perfect uitgevoerd met waardevolle tips over het juiste onderhoud van het gebit. Uitstekend gedaan iedereen. Narcose Dental heeft niet mijn fobie overwonnen maar ik heb wel het volledige vertrouwen in dit team.

Na wel heel lang wachten (ik werd een uur later pas geholpen dan mijn afspraak was) werd ik opgehaald en echt heel goed gerustgesteld. Bij mij zijn er 4 verstandskiezen en twee gewone kiezen verwijderd en doordat ze het zorgvuldig hebben gedaan, heb ik totaal geen enkel last van pijn gehad. Lieve professionele mensen die erin geslaagd zijn mij heel rustig te houden met grapjes en hun positieve energie. 2 verstandskiezen en een implantaat. Helemaal nergens last van gehad naderhand.
