Costs and coverage anesthesia dentist

Do you prefer avoiding a visit to the dentist? Then you are not the only one. In the Netherlands, about a quarter of the population is afraid to visit the dentist. Some of them struggle with dental phobia, causing them to avoid the dentist for years. To keep your teeth healthy and prevent problems, we recommend visiting the dentist twice a year for a check-up. But, what to do when you are dreading such a visit?

We are well aware that a dental appointment can be stressful, especially with a significant treatment. We do not judge and offer help with full anesthesia. While you sleep, we take care of your teeth without you feeling or noticing anything. For many patients, this is an ideal solution. But, what does an anesthesia treatment at the dentist cost? And are these costs reimbursed? We are happy to explain.

Which treatments do you perform under anesthesia?

Would you also like to be treated while you sleep? We would like to invite you for a no-obligation introductory appointment. During this appointment, we will explain exactly how treatment under anesthesia works and draw up a treatment plan together. For this plan, we only need a photo and - apart from a mirror - no other instruments are used.

Do you have a question? Feel free to ask. We are ready to answer all your questions.

What does dental treatment under anesthesia cost?

The costs may vary and depend on the type of treatment (dental costs) and its duration (anesthetic costs).

The rates for dental treatments are determined nationally every year by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). This means that every dentist in the Netherlands charges the same rates. Whether under anesthesia or not.

There is an additional fee for the anesthesia. We charge a starting rate of 350 euros for a short treatment. The anesthesia then costs 175 euros per 30 minutes.

At Narcose Dental we always draw up a personal treatment plan with a budget, taking your wishes into account. We also think along with your budget, so that you know exactly where you stand.

Are anesthesia treatments at the dentist covered?

An anesthesia treatment at the dentist consists of two parts: the dental treatment and the anesthesia. As with normal dental treatment, anesthetic treatments are reimbursed if you are insured for them. The fee for anesthesia is excluded from the insurance and therefore has to be paid by yourself.

Want to know whether you are eligible for reimbursement for the dental treatments? Then we recommend you to contact your health insurer. Some treatments are reimbursed from the basic insurance, while for other treatments you need to have supplemental insurance to receive reimbursement. In most cases, part of the costs are reimbursed up to a maximum amount per year.
